Canadian and American flags side by side, reflecting the spirit of Hemlock's tariff response

Hemlock Printers is a family-owned, multi-generational business, based in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. For more than half of our 56-year history, we’ve been proud to serve customers in both Canada and the United States.

Hemlock USA Inc., our US-based subsidiary, has evolved significantly over the decades, employing staff in Washington and California. Starting in Seattle in the 1990s, we eventually expanded into the San Francisco Bay area in 2000. Most recently in 2022, we established a production footprint and supporting sales office in Los Angeles.

Our journey as a leading North American printer continues. Despite the challenges that we are facing with the current trade dispute between Canada and the US, we remain committed to providing exceptional service and product quality to our customers, on both sides of the border.

On behalf of Hemlock’s staff, management, and ownership, I would like to convey our utmost commitment to minimizing the impact of any tariffs that may be applied to the printed products we produce.

In the event tariffs are imposed, our team is ready to put in place the necessary processes to ensure that US-bound shipments will continue uninterrupted. For projects shipping from our Hemlock Printers, Hemlock Display and Hemlock Connect operations, Hemlock will manage all related tariff transactions directly with our Customs Broker and US Customs.

Our team is closely monitoring this evolving situation, and we will respond quickly to any changes that may impact our products or services. As with other economic challenges we have faced in the past, we will work collaboratively with our customers, staff, suppliers and advisors to help us successfully navigate through this uncertain period.

We firmly believe in the long-standing and mutually beneficial trading relationship between Canada and the US. We participate in an industry that is built on highly integrated and efficient supply chains, with manufacturing inputs such as paper products, printing plates and inks flowing both north and south, alongside a wide range of printed products. The printing industries in Canada and the US are stronger because of our exemplary trading relationship.

Should you have any questions regarding Hemlock’s ongoing response to this tariff issue, please do not hesitate to reach out to your Hemlock Account Manager or primary Hemlock contact.

We thank you for your ongoing support.

Sincerely,

Richard Kouwenhoven
President & CEO
