Hemlock’s progressive, sensitive and thoughtful commitment to the environment is not only rooted deeply in the organization but has a growing impact in the community as a whole. All of the practices that Hemlock has adopted are applicable across the industry. Hemlock’s initiative and leadership are contributing significantly to the transformation of the printing industry. As a result, Hemlock has been recognized multiple times. Hemlock’s list of recent awards and certifications is as follows:

  • May 2004: Hemlock obtained Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody Certification. Hemlock became the first printer in the Pacific Northwest to obtain certification
  • November 2005: Hemlock was presented with the Ethics in Action Award for Environmental Excellence
  • February 2006: Hemlock was named Most Environmentally Friendly Printer in Canada at the 2006 Print Action Environmental Printing Awards, and received a Silver in Environmental Community Involvement for their Off Cuts for Charity program
  • February 2007: Hemlock was once again named the Most Environmentally Progressive Printer in Canada at the Environmental Printing Awards. Hemlock also received a Gold Award for Most Environmentally Friendly Printed Project for the Holiday Gift Wrap set that the company produces for clients each year
  • May 2007: Hemlock was presented with the City of Burnaby Environment Award for Business Stewardship
  • November 2007: The Capital Regional District (Victoria) presented Hemlock with the EcoStar Award for Corporate Social Responsibility
  • November 2007: The Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters presented Hemlock with the BC Export Award for Sustainability at the BC Export Awards
  • February 2008: PrintAction Magazine presented Hemlock with a third consecutive Gold award in the Most Environmentally Progressive Printer in Canada (100+ employees) category
